Travel insurance is required for this trek and must cover medical treatment and emergency helicopter rescue at high altitudes up to 5,000 meters. In case of an emergency, we will contact your travel insurance for immediate rescue and medical assistance. Please provide your insurance details after confirming your booking. Please ensure your travel insurance confirms your policy covers the helicopter evacuation and medical bills.

Money Exchange

If you have a Euro, Pound, or Dollar, you can exchange it in Thamel, Kathmandu. Thamel has numerous money exchange offices on the street. 1 USD = 135 NPR (Nepalese Rupees). This displays current rates on the board. Therefore, ATMs are available. But banks will charge some extra transaction fees and have limits. We highly encourage avoiding old or broken foreign currency notes, as banks and money exchanges will not accept these kinds of notes.

Personal expenses

Extra expenses are not included, like soft and hard drinks, internet services, snacks, hot showers, camera and phone charges, telephone services, souvenirs, etc. Please note that during the trekking route, you'll not get ATM or bank services along the way. We highly recommend you take an extra amount of Nepali cash from Kathmandu.

Tipping

Tipping is appreciated in Nepal's tourism industry as a gesture of gratitude for good service. If trekking in a group, tips are often collected and presented to the guide and porter team at the end of the trek.

In 2019 my daughter and her Boyfriend, wife and I did the Langtang valley trek with Chitra Gurung as our professional local trekking guide. His knowledge of the area was extensive, including walking expectations, weather and terrain conditions, and the best places to stop, have a rest, eat and sleep. So much that other trekkers called on his advice despite having their own guides. He was a very kindly and acknowledges expert Himalaya’s guide. On the trek, Chitra was promotion, fun and extremely friendly with everybody. He had a very attractive personality, and over the two week trek he became a member of our family. We cannot recommend him highly enough!

I have started trek on 19th Oct 2019 to 25th October 2019, I just finished an amazing 5-day Langtang short trek with my guide, Arpan. The experience was unforgettable, and better for Arpan’s knowledge of Nepal, local customs, and the flora and fauna of the area. And he brought pomegranates! Who expects pomegranates at 3800m? Thanks to Arpan and to Chitra for organizing my very tightly timed adventure.
